A Project for Saturday Morning

NOTE: This project is now out for publication!  See it in the Sept./Oct. issue of Simply Handmade! Smile

Ok, so that’s a little bit of a lie considering I started this yarn wreathe yesterday during nap time.  These yarn wreathes are blowing up craft blogs everywhere and I wanted to put my spin on one.  What NO ONE tells you is how flipping long it takes to wind the yarn around the wreathe form.  Blargh. Consider yourself warned!

Out for Pub

I love the look of the heathered gray yarn.  I got it on sale at AC Moore and the wreathe form came from an ugly kit on clearance at Christmas Tree Shops.  I had the felt and flowers in my stash so the entire project came in at about $7.  Not too shabby!

I created the large dahlia flower from the tutorial on the Holidash site and the tutorial for the smaller yellow flower was of course from Martha.  The other felt flowers were premades from Maya Road and Prima.  Hey, I’m lazy like that.

Out for Pub

The dahlia took forever but it’s pretty awesome.

The resin flower center is from Making Memories and I hung the wreathe from a wide piece of twill ribbon I had in my ribbon stash.

I am kind of in love with this project.  I am totally digging the colors!
