It had been a long time since I had done a straight-up altered project when I busted out this cute little wooden bird from the craft store. I got really into it! I had forgotten how fun and creative it can be to start with something basic and make it my own.
Maya Road products are always perfect for projects like these. They have flowers of every shape and color and a bazillion small embellishments to tuck away.
I layered chipboard, kraft doilies, and trim to form a wing.
I added flowers, fussy cut papers, and other small embellishments around the belly and tufted the tail feathers with a bit of tulle trim and a couple of stick pins.
She’s just so pretty!
A Sweet Altered Bird

Have you seen the latest Fancy Pants Designs summer lines? Making Waves and Summer Sun are bright, fun collections that can be mixed and matched for a ton of great summer looks.
Here’s my favorite little guy being a beach bum!
I focused on using the Fancy Pants silver foil papers and embellishments with foil details.
I used a Silhouette cut file for the orange background and backed it with silver foil so the silver peeked through the negative space.
Stay cool, everyone!
Always Cute

Cue me loading a bunch of projects to my lonely blog with very little to say! I need to catch myself up with blogging projects… so prepare yourself for an onslaught of photos. ;-)
I hope everyone’s having a fun and relaxing summer!

This was created with the April 2015 Hip Kit Club kit. Perfect warm colors for my kitteh!

Wild Things
Lovin’ the Office Suite collection from Fancy Pants Designs! I got the chance to work with some Spellbinders dies for this page, too.
I normally would think about using the label dies on a one by one basis but in this case I really liked the idea of using them stacked up as the main paper focus on my page. They create their own design as a collective element.
I used a black pen to line just along the edges of the embossing line to accent each label.
The butterfly dies were adorable and perfect for my “Wild Things” theme.
We got this photo strip from one of those mall photo booths that always produce some fun. Those smiles are infectious!
Hey There Handsome
Let’s hear it for the boys!
Seriously, the guys are always underrepresented and if this kiddo would stop moving long enough for me to take more pictures of him maybe I’d scrap him more!!
But today you can check out this gorgeous child of mine… (I’m not a proud mama or anything…)
I meannnnn…. really!!
This concentric wood circle paper is the coolest. It made a super background for this masculine layout. It compelled me to sew even more circles and sprinkle embellishments ‘round.
I used more mist as paint on this one… this time behind the photo mat.
I always try to “sandwich” my photos. This one’s on top of the mat layers and I added a drawn gold border, paper clip and a hearts rub-on on top.
I also really dig the gold Scrabble-like letters, too. #CUTE, indeed!
::sigh:: I <3 this little boy.
You Are Lovely Right Now
This is probably my favorite layout that I’ve done in a long time. I really love fussy cutting these types of florals… they’re just SO pretty. This is another page created from the March Hip Kit. I can’t get enough of this month’s collection!
Aren’t those colors just gorgeous? For some reason I have a hard time finding paper that really goes with bright green grass photos but the green leaves here and the crinkled tissue (old Pink Paislee) were the perfect match to my summer photos.
I used a lot of mist droplets and little bunches of thread to go with the soft watercolor feel of the flowers.
My photo cluster has a whole buncha layers, just as I like it. I hid bits of ephemera all over the place! And you know I can’t resist adding some stitching.
The “watercolor” around the outer edge is just watered down mist. I dipped a medium width brush in the color mist and dragged it messily along the edges of the paper.
Love, love, LOVE this page!
Catching Up
As usual my blog seems to be lowest on the totem pole. Lately life has been chaotic as we ramp up to put our house on the market. It means I’ve been purging TONS of older product in my scrap room, which feels really freeing, surprisingly. But it also has meant that I haven’t been doing as much actual creating.
The good news about my lazy blogging is that I have a few projects backlogged for you! :-P
Here’s another page I created with the January kit from Hip Kit Club… I really ended up loving everything I made with this kit!
The teal and gold combo is just gorgeous and adding touches of gray and navy pretty much put it over the top for me.
Gah! So many awesome bits and pieces!!
Tomorrow I’ll show you my absolute favorite page from this kit… floral goodness… OH, YEAH.
Everyday Sweet
I’m continuing to love every bit of the January Hip Kit Club kit. I haven’t scrapped so much in a week in a long time and it feels great!
This one uses the bright pink, navy, and some added gold.
I added some stitching, doodling, and a bunch of ephemera.
True to my style, the layers are strong with this one. ;-)
I’m really loving this color combo for a page with both kids. It’s a strong pink and combined with the navy (and my son’s personality) it definitely works for boys too.
Gah! Dontcha just want to squeeze those little stinkers!?
New Kit, New Stuff, New Mojo!
Holy cow, you guys. Have you all heard of Hip Kit Club? I used to be a loyal subscriber of A Million Memories’ kits wayyyy back in the day before I had kids and for years I have been searching for the perfect kit to match my scrap personality. I am pretty sure I actually gasped upon seeing these kits for the first time. Check them out! Love them!
So of course when I received the January kit I dug right in. Here’s the result of the gorgeousness in this kit:
The colors are so bright they just make me happy. And that large floral print was really calling to me!
I love the gold that’s everywhere these days. I added lots of gold accents to this page.
I “hung” my photos and a bunch of embellishments at the top of the page. The variety of embellishments in this kit really spoke to me as someone who likes to add a lot of “stuff” to her pages.
Thanks for stopping by for a look today!
A Bella Frame Trio
‘Morning, all! Can you believe after THREE years with Pink Paislee my time has come to an end?! It feels like yesterday that I joined the Pink Paislee family. They have been an incredible company to work for and my heart will always be with them and all my fellow Pink Paislee designers that I have had the honor of working alongside.
Today I’m bringing you my final project… this sweet frame trio with Pink Paislee’s Bella Rouge:
I used three $1 frames from Michael’s. They have plastic sheets instead of glass and I added elements both under the plastic and on top of it.
You can see more details on the Pink Paislee blog!
