Wildflowers

The UmWowStudio chipboard flowers have been calling to me for a while now and this month I decided to do a couple of cards with these little beauties.  I busted out an old favorite: Crate Paper’s Restoration.  I still love this collection and the muted colors coordinated so well with the awesome kraft-iness of the naked chipboard.

I “welded” the bluebell and daisy on this first one.

My Favorite of 2012

So, it’s the “done thing” these days to show off your top ten, top twelve, or top whatever of the year’s past projects.  I’m not THAT ambitious… but the new Paper Issues "My Favorite” theme is up today and it inspired me to go wayyyyy back to January of last year.  I had forgotten how much I absolutely loved creating this mini album and coordinating box.  It’s pretty small but the colors are beautiful and I love the mini suitcase.  A lot.

Paper Issues is kicking off the new Halloween Harvest theme till October 20th and YOU could win your choice of kit from Gossamer Blue!

PI kit sponsor

In honor of the Halloween Harvest theme I created these haunted butterfly houses:

butterfly-houses
These are made from small wood birdhouses, wood candlestick holders, and the Fancy Pants Oct. 31 digital collection.  I pulled off a hybrid project by printing the papers and embellishments and fussy cutting them.

World Card Making Day

Ohhh, the interwebs is abuzz with World Card Making Day!  It seems like everyone is busting out the paper scraps and sentiment stamps to celebrate and I surely can’t be left behind!

Fancy Pants has teamed up with a favorite of mine… Operation Write Home.  OWH sends cards overseas to our men and women in uniform for them to send home to their loved ones.  I highly recommend checking out exactly what they do and contributing! Head on over to the Fancy Pants blog to see some inspiring cards, a blog hop, and giveaways!

I created this baby card using the Hopscotch collection and an Artist Edition alphabet card:

Circus-Tent-Card

And a four year old boy’s fire truck party too:

Fire-Truck-Card

Both of these were cut with the Silhouette.  The circus tent card uses Fancy Pants’ Summer Soul collection and the fire truck card is entirely cardstock… which I never do!

Finally, if you need a challenge to get your mojo flowing head on over to Pink Paislee where you can enter to win the entire City Sidewalks collection!

I Do Declare!

Well, Paper Issues declares, that is.  Declares that a NEW theme is up: Picnics and Patriots!

Not only can you view some amazing picnic-y and Independence Day projects but you can win some awesome swag… Pink Paislee’s Declaration collection, which is everything a 4th of July line should be.
My layout for Pink Paislee uses this collection and while it is about the special relationship between father and son, the photo was taken at last year’s Independence Day parade.

2-of-a-Kind

My title makes use of some other Pink Paislee goodies from Indigo Bleu, the giant number from London Market, and some ancient glittery alphas.

2-of-a-Kind-detail2
How much do we love the chevron print from this line?! So much I had to cut it out and lace it up with twine.

2-of-a-Kind-detail3
This collection rocks!  And it can’t be used for so much more that 4th of July themes… so CLEARLY you need to head on over to the Paper Issues blog and link up your Picnics and Patriots projects so you too have a chance to win it.  Do it by July 7th… you know you want to!

Hey Honey… Bee

I am forcing myself to not fill this post with cheesy bee puns.  That’s how much I love you guys.

Paper Issues has a new theme goin’ down until June 9th.  We’re talking about everything hexagons and honey bees because they’re *everywhere* these days.  THIS is a trend I love!

First up from me: a card recently published in CARDS magazine -

Honeybee-Hello

The hexagon paper is Pink Paislee’s Mistables with Tattered Angels mist and the bees are misted canvas from Prima.

And here is a page I did for Pink Paislee using the Nantucket collection (also above)… I especially like the hexagon chipboard!

Explore

Oooooh…. just look at all that hexagon goodness!  (we won’t talk about how long it took me to line them up)

If you have some bees and hexes to show off, or if you just want to see more, head on over to Paper Issues.  A few of the design team members have featured projects that you NEED to see and if you comment by the 9th you could win a killer awesome kit of My Mind’s Eye and other goodies.  Yeah, we DO rock!

While you’re there you might as well do a little bit of shopping, too, right? Use the code “SCRAPGOO” for 20% off.

Happy Spring!

Last week was the first official week of Spring… can you believe that??  Actually, LAST week I did believe that given that it was in the eighties in New England.  Scary!  This week we are back to the seasonal 48* temps but they sting so much more after that massive tease. Sigh.

Today I have a cure for my Spring Fever… candy wrapped up in pretty!

Summer-Soul-Treat-Set

That’s some Fancy Pants Summer Soul right there.  I didn’t use any of the beach-y elements and opted instead to keep these bright and cheery with a generic Spring vibe.

Summer-Soul-Pillow-Box

Summer-Soul-Pillow-Box-detail

The pillow box is old flower packaging.  I never throw stuff like this away!  I used all kinds of Summer Soul goodies on here: ruffled paper, filter embellishments, buttons, chipboard, oh my!

Summer-Soul-Clear-Box  Summer-Soul-Clear-Box-detail

This clear box is from The Container Store.  I wrapped the ruffled paper around the top of the box but made sure it could freely open.  The flower on top was made with an EK Success 3D punch and I used foam tape to elevate the leaves.

The Easter peanut butter cups inside *barely* survived through the picture taking… mmmmm!

Speaking of treats… have you checked out the awesomely apt theme at Paper Issues these days?  Yeah, we’re talking Candy Shoppe right now and I highly recommend having something sweet to snack on while you look at all the amazing candy themed projects that have been linked up.  And link up your own while you’re at it…. I am!
