Crop for Oklahoma

I am pleased to announce that Cheeky Chic Scrapbooking will be hosting an online crop on June 15th to benefit the victims of the Oklahoma tornado tragedy through the United Way. The cost will be $15 dollars and all proceeds will be donated directly to the United Way of Oklahoma.

During the online crop there will be challenges hosted by a variety of scrapbookers including myself, Becky Fleck, Lisa Pace, Stephanie Howell, Cathy Zielske, Mary Ann Jenkins, Juliana Michaels, Julie Overby and more. There will also be some fantastic prizes being given away from our generous sponsors including: Bo Bunny, Jillibean Soup, Little Yellow Bicycle, The Paper Bakery Kit Club, Pink Paislee, Fancy Pants, Bella Blvd, SRM Stickers, May Arts, Echo Park and more!

There will be a challenge every hour, on the hour, from 8am EST - 6pm (or maybe later) plus challenges from some big names in the scrapbooking arena with a full week to complete the challenges you pick. You will have tons of chances to win some great prizes. Oh, and did I mention a drawing will be held for a big prize from the first fifty people to donate?

Please think about joining us for a fun day of cropping, games, and prizes for a good cause. We know the people affected by these tragedies will be eternally grateful for your love and support!

May 4 x 4: Pink Paislee Edition

Hello readers! About a month ago I started thinking about an idea I’ve seen done by other designers and in magazines where a group of scrappers all use the same handful of products and see what different pages they can come up with. How fun would it be to do this with some of the designers I am close to, I thought!

So, I got on the horn (otherwise known as Facebook) and rallied the troops: Meg Aaron, Christina Colón, and Dawn Perkins. They are some seriously talented chicks and I knew they would rock this challenge!

Here are “The Rules”:
- We must use the same four products: two papers and two embellishments.
- We can only use one of each sheet of paper.
- We can use unlimited basics (card stock, ribbon, alphas, mists, etc.) as long as the four main products are the focus.
- We cannot share our finished pages with each other until we are all done so that we do not influence each others’ design choices.

Our four products were a mash-up of Pink Paislee’s Soiree and Daily Junque collections:

And here is what we came up with. Click on the page photos to visit these ladies’ blogs!

I chose to use a white background so that I could stretch my patterned paper more. I loved the border of the Daily Junque paper so I fussy cut it and used the reverse gray side in the center.

I created a folded half circle element with the tissue paper.

And I cut the blue circle paper into strips and sewed them down the middle. I left them slightly popped up for a bit of texture.

Meg used the Soiree note cards in such a clever way! I love the clean grid background and how her black mats really ground and unite everything!
Meg

Christina got funky with the awesome floral print and a misted gray background. And how cute is that hand made tissue “celebrate” accent!?

Dawn chose to use the blue paper for her background and made an *adorable* banner from the Soiree cards! How perfect is this photo for these colors!?

I was tickled to see how perfect this little experiment turned out. Our layouts are all so different but fabulous in their own ways! We loved doing this so much that we decided to make it a monthly challenge and rotate “hosting”. So stay tuned for the next 4 x 4!

And now it is YOUR turn!

Do you want to win this sweeeeeeet prize?

prize

You get TWO entries into the drawing if you use *two or more* of the same products we used to make a layout.
OR
You get ONE entry if you don’t have the same products but you scraplift one of our pages.

Post a link to your completed layout in the comments section by June 17th for your chance to win! If you scraplift please let us know which layout you chose to lift. This is open to winners in the continental US.

I'm back... with a winner!

Ok so it took me a little time to recover from the cruise. I needed a vacation from vacation! I know, I know, you're crying me a river, right?

The trip was fabulous, despite some crazy high seas from all the tropical storms out in the Caribbean and we spent a lot of time sipping fun drinks, eating way too much food, and watching the 24 hour circus that happens aboard a cruise ship. St. Thomas was fun and St. Maarten was beautiful. Right about now I am missing this:

Now I'm back to the daily grind. My husband is starting a new job this week, Owen is getting his back molars and walking all over the place, and I have a mountain of laundry to wash and a lot of first birthday party projects on my horizon. Someone pass me a Rum Runner, please!?

Thanks to all of you who have been patient about my last giveaway. Drumroll, please!

The winner of Kit #2 (the Halloween kit) is: ScrapbookMary!

ScrapbookMary, please use the link to contact me on the side bar and send me your name and address and I will mail the kit out to you ASAP!

Congrats!

My Old Stuff - Kit #1!

The Great Scrap Room transformation of 2010 caused me to go through every inch of my scrappy stash. Wow, that's a lot of stuff! ::blush::

I have too much. There, I've admitted it! So how do we handle this dilemma? Well, I give some of my stuff to YOU, of course! It's a win-win, really. You get some of my older (but still awesome!) product and I make some room on my shelves. For more product. Wait a minute...

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. ;-)

Over the next few months (I am ashamed to tell you exactly how many of these kits there are...) I will be giving away kits of goodies. This month, for this Autumn-friendly September Kit, I want you to leave a comment and give me a recipe for your favorite apple dish. As I mentioned in the previous post we have an abundance of crisp apples and I live for this time of year just for the apple recipes alone. I will eat them ten ways from Sunday and not be tired of them.

The kit includes products from My Mind's Eye, Cosmo Cricket, Die Cuts With a View, Creative Imaginations, Daisy D's, Heidi Swapp and more.

So copy and paste a favorite... or link me up to something you found online... just give me a reason to get in the kitchen by Friday!

One lucky winner will be drawn to win the kit!

**Please, I can only pay shipping to winners from the continental US!**
Welcome to the Scrap that Baby's Sweet Summertime blog hop!!

Thank you so much for hopping along on our first ever blog hop!

If you didnt come from Kelly's blog or you popped upon this blog and didn't realize we were blog hopping you need to go to Scrap That Baby and start the HOP! You will need to comment on ALL of the blogs to be eligible for the grand prizes listed on the main site! Plus, so many of our awesome designers are giving away a prize on their blogs as well. You will not want to miss out. There are MANY MANY chances to win!

Our theme for this blog hop is SWEET SUMMERTIME!! The members of our design team will all be sharing fantastic summer projects, stories, tips or ideas for keeping cool and having fun in the summer with a baby along.

Here are a few of my ideas:

- I'm starting with a layout of my boy on his first Independence Day! For many, the 4th of July is a true icon of summer. Every year my best friend and I make plans together and last year we were both pregnant and blissfully envisioning our perfect family, double baby celebration. Well, babies sure do have minds of their own! Owen had a ball until about five minutes before the fireworks when he had a total meltdown. We packed up and by the time we hit the parking lot he was completely calm again and we paused to see the fireworks, which he thought were pretty fascinating. Despite the evening not going according to plan I still got some awesome photos of my little guy in his adorable (and so fitting) Little Firecracker onesie:

- Next up: kitchen stuff! Anyone who knows me knows that I love to be in the kitchen... and that I HATE the heat and that means I'm in a real pickle in the summertime! When it is hot out I just can't take the heat and I get out of the kitchen. What's a cook to do? A lot of crock pot cooking and grilling.

One of my favorite ways to grill is using foil packets. This idea is borrowed from campers, boaters, and RVers everywhere. Try salmon, dill, butter and some lemon slices in a double wrapped foil packet. YUM! Or the classic potatoes, carrots, onions, butter, salt and pepper. Those little crispy bits that stick to the foil are fought over in this house!

- What to drink on these dog days of summer? How about a little Blueberry Lemonade Spritzer! I came up with this after I had juice leftover from making Owen's pureed blueberries.

1. Cook fresh blueberries over medium heat until they burst.
2. Strain juice from the berries (save berries for jam, babyfood (!), or other recipes).
3. Fill a pitcher with homemade or store bought lemonade and add the blueberry juice... it will be a beautiful color!
4. When you are ready to serve: pour until the glass is about 2/3 of the way full and top with any clear sparkling beverage such as 7-Up or fizzy water.
5. Garnish with lemon slices and a few whole blueberries.

Bonus! Add some citrus flavored vodka, champagne, or prosecco for an awesome adult cocktail!

- Finally, ANY season is a good one for a giveaway, right?! To win this Maya Road trio of fun chipboard, felt buttons, and ribbons all you have to do is be/become a follower of my blog and leave your blog hop comment! Wednesday I will choose from the followers who played along.

***************************************************
Our blog hop runs from today, August 18th until August 22nd. Invite your friends to play for extra entries. You must comment on all the blogs for a chance at the main prize!

The Scrap that Baby blog will be drawing for prizes on Wednesday August 25th! .
