Fancy Pants–Trend Setter

Have you guys seen the latest Fancy Pants releases from the CHA winter show?  I seriously love them all!  A show favorite was Trend Setter.  I personally am just SO happy to see navy blue in scrapbooking supplies!

I created these Trend Setter projects for the Fancy Pants booth:

Crankypants
I love classic patterns… chevrons, dots, and stripes, oh my!

And a fun card:
Call-Me-Maybe

This fresh color scheme makes me happy.  I love a good spring line that isn’t pastel or cutesy so this collection will keep me busy for a while!

Woven Paper Heart Basket

Hey there everyone!  The month of love is in full swing around here and today I’m bringing you a tutorial for this woven paper heart basket on the Fancy Pants blog.  We’re hopping with Tombow this week and using a variety of their fabulous adhesives to create Valentine projects with the Love Note collection.

Playing Catch Up!

Oh, I am so so behind in my blogging!  The holidays with two little ones were wonderful but exhausting and I’ve just been treading water with getting things done.  Please forgive a couple of Christmas projects!

These first ones are some simple little gifts for our mailman and daycare provider.

Caramel-Corn-Set

I used Home for Christmas from Fancy Pants for these.  Mr. Mailman got his with a nice sweet pack of lottery tickets.  Our daycare provider got the card with a Target gift card.

Caramel-Corn-Card

This layout also uses Home for Christmas and was included in the winter issue of PaperHaus.  If you haven’t read this magazine yet you are definitely missing out!  Every single page is filled with beauty.

A Spooky Month

In case you missed it last week on the Fancy Pants blog, here’s a fun little Halloween project for you.  Did you know Fancy Pants has free downloadable goodies every Friday?  And each month one of those is a calendar.  I took the October calendar and turned it into both a functional and decorative piece for my desk.  Yes, I still like a good old fashioned written schedule!

See the full instructions on how I made this here.

Halloween Harvest

October is my favorite month… the crisp leaves, Halloween fun, and the traditions (and eating) that comes along with harvest time!

Paper Issues is kicking off the new Halloween Harvest theme till October 20th and YOU could win your choice of kit from Gossamer Blue!

PI kit sponsor
Like Gossamer Blue on Facebook and start following their blog, too, and you could win one of their fabulously coordinated kits.

And if you need to shop before you can create (don’t we all!?) head on over to the Paper Issues store with the coupon code “SCRAPGOO” and save yourself 20% on everything.  Yeah, harvest that!!

In honor of the Halloween Harvest theme I created these haunted butterfly houses:

butterfly-houses
These are made from small wood birdhouses, wood candlestick holders, and the Fancy Pants Oct. 31 digital collection.  I pulled off a hybrid project by printing the papers and embellishments and fussy cutting them.

World Card Making Day

Ohhh, the interwebs is abuzz with World Card Making Day!  It seems like everyone is busting out the paper scraps and sentiment stamps to celebrate and I surely can’t be left behind!

Fancy Pants has teamed up with a favorite of mine… Operation Write Home.  OWH sends cards overseas to our men and women in uniform for them to send home to their loved ones.  I highly recommend checking out exactly what they do and contributing! Head on over to the Fancy Pants blog to see some inspiring cards, a blog hop, and giveaways!

I created this baby card using the Hopscotch collection and an Artist Edition alphabet card:

Here are a couple of super simple toddler birthday cards I whipped up last month.  We had a three year old girl’s birthday to attend:

Circus-Tent-Card

And a four year old boy’s fire truck party too:

Fire-Truck-Card

Both of these were cut with the Silhouette.  The circus tent card uses Fancy Pants’ Summer Soul collection and the fire truck card is entirely cardstock… which I never do!

Finally, if you need a challenge to get your mojo flowing head on over to Pink Paislee where you can enter to win the entire City Sidewalks collection!

Here Comes the Bride

Summer is typically wedding season and this summer was no exception for me.  I missed TWO weddings due to having a baby! But of course I still like to send our congratulations to the happy couple.  Today I am sharing a wedding set… a card and a matching box.

Wedding-set

This set is made with the Country Boutique collection from Fancy Pants and both the card and box were cut on the Silhouette.

wedding-card  wedding-card_detail

The card cut was super intricate but I love the end result! The “B” is the new couple’s initial.

wedding-dress-box  wedding-dress-box_detail

The dress box is the perfect size to store a gift card.  I fussy cut the flowers from patterned paper and added a bias tape sash to match the card. So pretty!

Heavy Lifting

Last week I kicked off the first of the “Layout Lifts” over on the Fancy Pants blog.  I used this fun page from Piradee Talvanna:

It struck me as simple but so very fun. I loved the dimensional pennants and the bright colors of Summer Soul.

My layout is a pretty close lift, design wise. I used Time for Spring and some neutrals from Country Boutique and created a more masculine page.

Jess Mutty Live Love Be Happy1

I chose to stitch around each of my flags and keep them flat. I exchanged the filter paper flower for a more masculine accordion circle and switched up the title placement a bit. But ... there is no mistaking that this is a scraplift! My black and white photo looked great with the cool greys from Country Boutique and I love how the colors from Time for Spring pop.

Jess Mutty Live Love Be Happy2

I used bits and pieces of chipboard from other lines as well. So many of the recent Fancy Pants Designs collections can be mixed and matched to get exactly the look you need.
Thanks to Piradee for the inspiration here. Like sketches, lifts can really get your mojo flowing. The end result can be very close to the original or look absolutely nothing like it by the time you are done, but it is a jumping off point either way.
