Craft and Connect

Hopefully you’ve been stalking the Pink Paislee blog this month to read all about the creative team members and see some self-chosen projects that represent our individual styles.  There is a massive (and I mean MASSIVE) giveaway at the end of the month, too, for entering the contest to use this color scheme:

ColorCrush_April2
As for me… well, you can read all about me, what Pink Paislee thinks of my work, and how I was a total stalker fangirl for years before joining the Pink Paislee team.  And check out the details of this butterfly gazebo I created for the event:

I used a whole ton of different things on this… Hope Chest, Cottage Farms, Artisan Elements, Luxe, and even a hoarded Nantucket tassel.  It’s sitting up on my spring mantel right now makin’ me happy.

I'm linking this up to the Paper Issues Pink Paislee/Mother's Day issue... link up or come take a look for more inspiration!

June 4 x 4!

I’m back again this month with a new 4 x 4: four designers using the same four products! This month we used the following products from Sassafras Lass, Echo Park, and Maya Road:

r-138789l-138799r-138493C1692-MiniChipboardCameosSet

The 4 x 4 Rules:
- We must use the same four products: two papers and two embellishments.
- We can only use one of each sheet of paper.
- We can use unlimited basics (card stock, ribbon, alphas, mists, etc.) as long as the four main products are the focus.
- We cannot share our finished pages with each other until we are all done so that we do not influence each others’ design choices.

And here is my page using these products:

Beach Bum

I used the more warm, neutral side of the Sass paper as a base and framed the page with watered down white paint, drops of gold mist, and stitching. I decided to leave the woman off of the cameo to better fit my boy page. Instead I covered the chipboard with paper and stickers and then added a layer of dimensional Glossy Accents.

I chose pops of black to accent this page, including the title and the wrapped embroidery floss at the bottom. I love this mix of summer colors!

This page is also a part of the latest "Make a Splash" theme challenge over at Paper Issues! Y'all should come on over to play!

Meg Aaron is hosting the challenge and prize this month and you are definitely going to want to visit her blog to get all the details and to see the other layouts created with this month’s products! And don’t forget to visit the blogs of this month’s other two participants: Christina Colón and Rachel Theall!

Thanks for joining us for another 4 x 4!

May 4 x 4: Pink Paislee Edition

Hello readers! About a month ago I started thinking about an idea I’ve seen done by other designers and in magazines where a group of scrappers all use the same handful of products and see what different pages they can come up with. How fun would it be to do this with some of the designers I am close to, I thought!

So, I got on the horn (otherwise known as Facebook) and rallied the troops: Meg Aaron, Christina Colón, and Dawn Perkins. They are some seriously talented chicks and I knew they would rock this challenge!

Here are “The Rules”:
- We must use the same four products: two papers and two embellishments.
- We can only use one of each sheet of paper.
- We can use unlimited basics (card stock, ribbon, alphas, mists, etc.) as long as the four main products are the focus.
- We cannot share our finished pages with each other until we are all done so that we do not influence each others’ design choices.

Our four products were a mash-up of Pink Paislee’s Soiree and Daily Junque collections:

And here is what we came up with. Click on the page photos to visit these ladies’ blogs!

I chose to use a white background so that I could stretch my patterned paper more. I loved the border of the Daily Junque paper so I fussy cut it and used the reverse gray side in the center.

I created a folded half circle element with the tissue paper.

And I cut the blue circle paper into strips and sewed them down the middle. I left them slightly popped up for a bit of texture.

Meg used the Soiree note cards in such a clever way! I love the clean grid background and how her black mats really ground and unite everything!
Meg

Christina got funky with the awesome floral print and a misted gray background. And how cute is that hand made tissue “celebrate” accent!?

Dawn chose to use the blue paper for her background and made an *adorable* banner from the Soiree cards! How perfect is this photo for these colors!?

I was tickled to see how perfect this little experiment turned out. Our layouts are all so different but fabulous in their own ways! We loved doing this so much that we decided to make it a monthly challenge and rotate “hosting”. So stay tuned for the next 4 x 4!

And now it is YOUR turn!

Do you want to win this sweeeeeeet prize?

prize

You get TWO entries into the drawing if you use *two or more* of the same products we used to make a layout.

An ACOT Triple Threat

In the world of Hollywood the “triple threat” is someone who can act, dance, AND sing.  So today we have the triple threat from A Cherry On Top: monthly challenges, my latest reveal, and an NSD crop!

First up is the May Challenges!  If your mojo has taken a vacation and you need something to jump start your creativity this month head on over to ACOT and see what the Creative Team cooked up.

While you are there I would love to share my latest article on the nautical stylings of Webster’s Pages new line “Yacht Club”.  My Maine mini album brought me back to childhood and I loved thinking outside of the box with this line too.
