Here Comes the Bride

Summer is typically wedding season and this summer was no exception for me.  I missed TWO weddings due to having a baby! But of course I still like to send our congratulations to the happy couple.  Today I am sharing a wedding set… a card and a matching box.

Wedding-set

This set is made with the Country Boutique collection from Fancy Pants and both the card and box were cut on the Silhouette.

The card cut was super intricate but I love the end result! The “B” is the new couple’s initial.

The dress box is the perfect size to store a gift card.  I fussy cut the flowers from patterned paper and added a bias tape sash to match the card. So pretty!

Hello Summer… Hello Smiles!

Echo Park is known for their fun, bright collections and whimsical designs and the Hello Summer line is no exception.  It seems every summer they roll out another collection that inspires me to scrap my most playful photos.  But their cute motifs are also perfect for card accents!

I used the June card sketch from Right at Home Scrapbooking to inspire this birthday card:

I chose to make mine 5" x 7" instead of square so I would have more room for the awesome umbrella sticker.  Of course the umbrella had to be shielding something so I added the sweet bird and a flower under it.

I used foam tape to give the umbrella a little dimension and added the brad at the top for texture. I also used foam tape under the sentiment sticker.

And a little twine goes a long way when you wrap it around the card spine a few times.  I just wanted a little extra detail and the bonus is that it shows on the inside of the card too.

These colors and patterns are guaranteed to bring a smile! Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Honey… Bee

I am forcing myself to not fill this post with cheesy bee puns.  That’s how much I love you guys.

Paper Issues has a new theme goin’ down until June 9th.  We’re talking about everything hexagons and honey bees because they’re *everywhere* these days.  THIS is a trend I love!

First up from me: a card recently published in CARDS magazine -

Honeybee-Hello

The hexagon paper is Pink Paislee’s Mistables with Tattered Angels mist and the bees are misted canvas from Prima.

And here is a page I did for Pink Paislee using the Nantucket collection (also above)… I especially like the hexagon chipboard!

Oooooh…. just look at all that hexagon goodness!  (we won’t talk about how long it took me to line them up)

If you have some bees and hexes to show off, or if you just want to see more, head on over to Paper Issues.  A few of the design team members have featured projects that you NEED to see and if you comment by the 9th you could win a killer awesome kit of My Mind’s Eye and other goodies.  Yeah, we DO rock!

While you’re there you might as well do a little bit of shopping, too, right? Use the code “SCRAPGOO” for 20% off.

Don’t Forget the Dads!

I know, Moms… it’s easy to forget that any other holiday exists beyond Mothers Day, right?? HA!

But I know some pretty FAB dads, my husband and my own father being at the top of that list.  And Fathers Day is June 17th… not that far away!

I used to get all creative with my dad’s gift each year until he confessed he LOVES getting a boring old gift card to the big box home improvement store.  Of course I can’t just put the dang thing in a card and send it.  Borrrring!  So each year I try to come up with fun packaging to make the gift just a bit more personal.  Last year you might remember this tool belt card.  That was a fun one to make.

This year I used Fancy Pants’ Wave Searcher collection and my Silhouette to craft this adorable car box, card and envelope set:

You know, because my dad loves to surf.  Ok, I lie.  But he DOES love the water and cars so that has to count for something!

The car box is just too cool.  I love my Silhouette to bits! There is just enough room in there to add the gift card.  My dad is going to think this is pretty stinkin’ cool.  And that’s all a crafty gal can ask for, really!

Well, Bless Your Heart!

I’ve always heard that that statement has a big of a barbed meaning to my Southern friends.  Being the Northerner that I am, well, it just makes me giggle.   We’re a bit more forward and…shall we say… colorful? around here.

My card, however, has no tongue in cheek meaning.  It’s all sweetness and sincerity when *I* say “bless your heart”. Not that I ever say that.  I live in Massachusetts and say things like “sweet!” and “that’s wicked awesome!”.

You’re just going to have to take my word that I am being genuine with this one:

Mmmmm, Crate Paper Farmhouse… excuse me while I wipe my drool.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’m a sucker for pretty much any holiday that allows me to do “extra fun stuff” and get crafty and Valentine’s Day is no exception.  Mr. O got some special treats, a few new books, and a stuffed Apu Apu.  Apu Apu is what he calls “Brown Bear, Brown Bear (What Do You See?)” from the Eric Carle book.  Don’t ask me why!

My husband got a few little gifties too but mostly he looks forward to a special card or two from me and Owen (with Mama’s help).

This first one makes use (the only use??) of an ATC.  I kept the background simple so the ATC wouldn’t get lost with all its embellishment:

Love-ATC-Valentine

And this one was from Owen to Daddy.  We painted and stamped his handprints onto paper and I created the card around that:

Owen-Hand-Valentine

I hope you all had a fantastic, love filled day!  We had a special Valentine dinner and capped it off with chocolate covered strawberries… can’t really complain about that!

And finally I will leave you with a few shots of my love monster in his mama-made Valentine shirt.  I got the template from Make it and Love it.  Boys need awesome holiday shirts too!

Happy Father’s Day!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Father’s Day weekend! We were happy to have a gorgeous, sunny two days here in New England. Hopefully all the dads out there got some extra special treatment and hugs today!

I made this card for my husband… all dads need to know they are #1! Little O gave daddy a few small gifts today and continued the tradition of giving “daddy books” so they can read together. I had scheduled Ryan a massage for some relaxation time on Saturday but the Bruins victory parade was at the same time so we will have to reschedule that! Somehow I don’t think Ryan was crying over having to go to a victory parade…

#1 Dad

I used an older Pink Paislee line on this, a Maya Road craft doily, baker’s twine, and doubled up on the twill ribbon for the medallion.

It’s a Man’s World

Uhh… no.  Winking smile

But it is a DAD’S weekend!  And that mean’s Father’s Day cards, right!?  Well I had to send one in the mail to my dad (and Owen’s grandpa) so it had to be done a little earlier.  My dad is a true guy’s guy in the sense that he loves machines, tractors, and building stuff.  And he is very good at it!  He has fully confessed that he loves getting gift cards to home improvement stores where he can act like a kid in a candy shop.  So what better for him than a tool belt gift card holder?

Tool Belt Card 1

I sort of just winged it on the tool belt part.  I made the center pocket larger so it would hold the gift card.  The wrench and hammer were cut on my Cricut with free .svg files I googled and altered in Sure Cuts a Lot.

Tool Belt Card 2

Here is a closer look at the tools.  I love the tape measure because it really opens!  I used measuring tape printed twill ribbon on cardstock and fastened the lengths with brads so they were jointed.

This card was not in my usual style but I had a lot of fun making it!  How are you celebrating all the dads or important guys in your life this weekend?  Are your cards done yet??

Baby Sweetness

It seems like it is baby season. Everywhere I turn I find friends who are pregnant or have just had babies… and I love it! (However my ovaries are screaming. Danger, Will Robinson!)

I whipped up this little congrats card for a new bundle of joy. It’s created from the Pink Paislee Sweetness collection. The soft colors and florals are just perfect for a new little lady!
